Emergency Contact was one of those books that bought an interesting array of mixed reviews upon its release. Despite the fact that I’m not a huge contemporary reader, picking up a YA contemporary every now and again for a lighter read feels very homey.
I can happily say, Emergency Contact does just the trick. But it’s accompanied with important elements that heighten this story from your average fluffy YA contemporary to an honest young adult story about flawed characters.

The Chase is the first book in Elle Kennedy’s new steamy hockey romance series. We follow Summer Di Laurentis, who was recently expelled from Brown University after an unfortunate incident. So she’s starting anew at Briar U. But upon her arrival to Campus, her housing situation fell through and she’s without a place to live.
Summer’s older brother Dean pulls some strings and soon after, Summer finds herself moved into a house with three of her brothers hockey teammates, and she has the butterflies for one: Colin Fitzgerald, the tattoo-covered, video-gaming and hockey-playing, nerd-jock. But Colin has troubles of his own, and he passes Summer off as someone who is flighty and superficial. That’s strike one against him.
But if her sexy brooding roomie wises up and realises what he’s missing, he knows where to find her.
