THE ‘I DARE YOU BOOK’ TAG

Hello everyone! How’s your week so far? Today is a T-day (aka its Thursday) so it’s the perfect day for a tag.

Today I’m doing the I DARE YOU book tag, which I saw Alex do on her amazing blog, Reading by Starlight. So as always when I see a tag I like, I nominate myself to do it!

1. What book has been on your shelf the longest?

I’m not going to take this question too literally (sorry to cheat), but I rarely pay attention to my book shelf because I rarely buy books these days. So I could not tell what’s been on my shelf the longest.

Buuut, Goodreads has an algorithm and it let me know that Ninth House has been on my Goodreads TBR the longest!

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?

I’m currently reading Marriage for One by Ella Maise, which is a fake marriage/marriage of convenience romance. I’m also listening to Sadie by Courtney Summers. My next read will hopefully be Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan!

3. What book did everyone like, but you hated?

I didn’t hate this book, I only made it a chapter or so into it, but I didn’t gel that well with The Guy on the Right by Kate Stewart. It just seems most of the people I’ve seen talk about this book have really loved it, but I just couldn’t get into this Underdog romance.

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

Probably Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Which I didn’t get to during this years Spookathon. But it’s sitting on my TBR patiently in case the mood strikes.

5. What book are you saving for retirement?

I’m saving Brandon Sanderson’s book for retirement. I’m sort of interested because so many readers talk about his books, but I have to say I rarely like fantasy without a romance element in them.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

I’m just a basic girl who loves a good romance. So definitely Feyre.

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life? (place, time, person?)

When I think about Six of Crows, I remember that I was reading this into the new year in New Zealand!

10. Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way

Well, I did make a bet with someone for the exact dollar amount I needed for A Court of Frost and Starlight knowing I would win and was therefore able to purchase this book.

11. Have you ever given a book away for a special reason to a special person?

Sometimes I give away books from my own collection for presents if I think someone else will enjoy it more.

12. Which book has been with you most places?

Not a book… but my kindle! It fits in everything, so it comes with my everywhere. It saw me across 8 countries in Europe too.

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

If I hate something I usually don’t revisit it. Also, since a lot of high school reading is very classic or literary fiction orientated (both of which some of my lesser read and least favourite genres) means I’m less inclined to pick them up.

14. Used or brand new?

Honestly I loved used books. When I want to purchase a book that I read and loved from the library. I cross check websites to find where it’s most inexpensive. Sometimes thats Thriftbooks, which you can get ex-library books from. I just find the checkout slips inside the covers so charming!

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

Nope! And probably never will, sorry Dan stans.

16. Have you ever seen a movie you liked more than the book?

Honestly.. I really enjoyed Five Feet Apart and gave the movie 5/5 stars. Whereas when I listened to the audiobook, it just wasn’t as special. Or maybe it’s because I just really love Haley lu:

(I’m definitely biased.)

17. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks included?

I love cooking (most of the time, not when I’m feeling lazy or tired.) But I do love reading Cookbooks and being inspired to cook delicious/restaurant quality food at home. Even if it doesn’t always turn out great.. But the Smith & Daughters cookbooks are my FAVOURITE. They make being Plant-based so delicious.

18. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

All of the people I follow online! Blogs and YouTube alike. I love collectively hearing what multiple of my favourite blogs and channels think about the same book for some reason.

19. Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g., outside your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving?

I wrote a whole review about this book and why I loved it. But to put it simply, I’ve never loved ‘bully’ type romances, yet this book was an exception and I gave it 5/5 stars! This was angsty perfection.

Would you do this tag? Because consider yourself tagged! Have you read any of the books I mentioned? I’d love to hear from you below!
