Books I’m Currently Reading #7 📚☕️

Picture this: it’s a cold Saturday night. You’re binge watching Nikocado Avocado and Julia from Delish trying all the popular menu items at Olive Garden. It makes you feel frumpy and lonely, so you decide to do something productive and write a blog post.

And honestly that’s how I ended up here, writing about all my current reads this weekend!

Triptych is the first book in a 10 book murder mystery series by Karin Slaughter. I honestly wasn’t sure whether I wanted to commit to a 10 book series (that is still ongoing). But after reading this book, I’m sold. Will Trent is a cinnamon bun and deserves our protection at all costs. Although there was a lot of slurs in here that made me cringe. But other than that this 2006 release holds up with a lot of Karin’s more recent releases.

I’m only a chapter into this but so far it does slightly remind me of The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. I just need the shipwrecking to happen and for the survival aspects to kick in because I love that.

I’m really enjoying listening to this instalment on my daily walks. Its been a long time since I watched the show, but I forgot some of the gut punching moments that happened around this period of the show/books. “Hope blew out like a candle in the storm.” If you know, you know: 👰🏻🗡💔

I’m sensing that after my current reads, I want a hard hitting angsty romance. I know that this book will deliver that, given it’s not just a romance but also focuses on grief.

I can’t lie, writing this post made me feel marginally more productive for approximately 30 minutes. But honestly I’m just going to resume my regular nighttime routine and watch YouTube.

What are you currently reading? Have you read anything lately that you’ve really enjoyed?

  1. Oooooh – I can’t wait to see what you think of Beach Read. I’ve been hearing some seriously great things about that book. I’m thinking that when I finally get back in the contemporary mood [probably either when Well Played’s released or the weather finally starts to warm up] I’m going to have to read it. Call be a book snob but I have been reluctant to order it because that cover really isn’t the most appealing… LOL! Sending you a big hug! 💙

    1. I agree the cover isn’t a stand out from the romance genre, but our favourite The Hating Game also has an average cover (and we know how much we love that book)… so fingers crossed BR is a gem too 😀 Definitely wait till you’re in the mood otherwise you run the risk of not enjoying it! Sending you hugs right back gorgeous ❤

  2. Hi Carly, I just found your blog and wanted to say hi, and that I’m looking forward chatting books with you. Beach Read is probably one of the most popular books this year, can’t wait to hear your thoughts. And I want to read Karina Halle’s One Hot Italian Summer – I’m in the mood for an Italian vacation. 😀

    1. Hi Corina, I’m so happy you reached out to say hi! I don’t have a lot of bookish friends (if any) IRL, so I love chatting to people about books, please don’t ever hesitate to get in touch. 🙂

I just finished Beach Read and it was such a whirlwind but I really enjoyed it. In some ways it reminded me of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne!

Oh god, I think I’m due for an Italian vacation too 😂 Thank god for books!
