Happy Wednesday everyone! After inspecting my Goodreads TBR (that has 100+ books on it… yikes krispies), I’ve narrowed down a list of the 5 books that are non-negotiable I read by the end of 2019.
It’s winter here in Australia… and that usually means I’m in the mood for reading books that feature some kind of romance. I can say for most of June, this has been so true. I’ve been ploughing my way through all kinds of romance books and participating in romance readathons.
Despite reading obligations and TBRs… here are some of recent romance additions to my TBR that happen to feature central F/F relationships that I am so excited to get too!
“You light me up. You helped me remember who I was before, and see clearly who I am now and who I want to be.”

Title: Take the Lead
Author: Alexis Daria
Series or Standalone: Dance Off #1
Genre: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Publication Date: October 3rd 2017
Star Rating: ★★★★☆
Take the Lead is sizzling romance between a Puerto Rican professional dancer and Mountain man reality star who find love on a reality show centred around a dance competition. As all budding romances go between a bubbly female lead and a brooding love interest, this book hits all the beats you expect a good romance novel to hit. It’s flirty, fun, with just the right amount of smut. But Alexis Daria takes this book to the next level and does more than what’s expected of the average new adult novel. With important conversations about Latina women in the entertainment industry being type casted and over-sexualised, this book features many elements that make it an exceptional and fresh addition to the genre.
I love how the discussion of Rainy Day Reads comes around seasonally. Of course, this topic can be interpreted differently by every reader, but that’s what makes it so much fun!
For me, my ideal rainy day read is simply something I find comfort in. Hearty books that aren’t too dense and don’t require using a lot of brain power to read. They might have fluffy romances & colourful characters that come off the page. This is what Rainy Day Reads are made for, at least in my world.

Title: The Chase
Author: Elle Kennedy
Series or Standalone: Briar U #1
Genre: New Adult, Romance, Contemporary, Sports Romance
Publication Date: March 19th 2019
Publisher: Elle Kennedy Inc.
Star Rating: ★★★★★
The Chase is the first book in Elle Kennedy’s new steamy hockey romance series. We follow Summer Di Laurentis, who was recently expelled from Brown University after an unfortunate incident. So she’s starting anew at Briar U. But upon her arrival to Campus, her housing situation fell through and she’s without a place to live.
Summer’s older brother Dean pulls some strings and soon after, Summer finds herself moved into a house with three of her brothers hockey teammates, and she has the butterflies for one: Colin Fitzgerald, the tattoo-covered, video-gaming and hockey-playing, nerd-jock. But Colin has troubles of his own, and he passes Summer off as someone who is flighty and superficial. That’s strike one against him.
But if her sexy brooding roomie wises up and realises what he’s missing, he knows where to find her.
