My Most Anticipated August Book Releases

My Most Anticipated August Book Releases

I got a little over excited these last few weeks and added way more books to my to-read pile than I had any right too. With libraries being shut because of COVID-19, I know I won’t be picking up all of these books up within the next couple of months. Regardless they’re on my tbr shelf for a reason and I can’t wait to discuss them with you all in the comments below!

ARC REVIEW: THE DARE BY ELLE KENNEDY

ARC REVIEW: THE DARE BY ELLE KENNEDY

“Conor Edwards is absolutely the guy you fall for before you learn that girls like me don’t get guys like him.”

College was supposed to be my chance to get over my ugly-duckling complex and spread my wings. Instead, I wound up in a sorority full of mean girls. I already have a hard time fitting in, so when my Kappa Chi sisters issue the challenge, I can’t say no.

The dare: seduce the hottest new hockey player in the junior class.

Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy.

Even crazier, now he wants to keep pretending. Turns out Conor loves games, and he thinks it’s fun to pull the wool over my frenemies’ eyes. But resisting his easy charm and surfer-boy hotness is darn near impossible. Though I’m realizing there’s much more to Conor’s story than his fan club can see. And the longer this silly ruse goes on, the greater the danger of it all blowing up in my face.

This books premise of a young college woman trying to “get over their ugly-duckling complex” set off my intuition: that this book would feature a plus size main character. (Cue: Kristen Bell’s sloth meltdown on Ellen.) No other 2020 release had me nervously clamoring to read it quite like The Dare. But soon after picking it up I became engrossed with this sweet fake dating romance.

WHAT I READ IN APRIL 2020

WHAT I READ IN APRIL 2020

Hello bookworms! I hope you’re all sleeping okay and having a good week so far. April was a weirdly exhausting month. The lack of routine because of Iso set in and I just began to feel really lethargic. I have no doubt that it affected my reading because I just didn’t have it in me to pick up anything new or high fantasy. Although some reads were enjoyable, I just have come out of April with the impression that it was a really lacklustre month.

Also if we could all just ignore the fact that while most people are posting their May wrap up, I’m only just posting my April — that would be great 😂
