WHAT I READ IN MARCH 2020

Hello bookworms! Today I’m doing my March wrap up! I read 11 books in March and I’m pretty pleased with that number. I read a lot of amazing books too, including a few that were highly rated PLUS SIZE romances. In a single month? Not to be dramatic but I feel so blessed.

4I didn’t get far into most of these stories before putting them down. Except for The Raven & The Dove, which was an ARC I requested from NetGalley. I’ve read some really unique and well-written fantasy books and unfortunately for that book, it was struggling to compete. See my full review here on the blog.

THE UNHONEYMOONERS MY CHRISTINA LAUREN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Contemporary Romance • Enemies to Lovers • Plus Size MC

This romance set in the backdrop of a tropical vacation was perfect. Contemporary Romance in general lately has been really uplifting for me. It helps that this book has a plus size heroine. Read my review here on the blog.

🎧 BEFORE THE DEVIL BREAKS YOU BY LIBBA BRAY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Young Adult • Historical • Paranormal

These books are perfect. I love all the characters and I love January LaVoy’s narration. Also that horny montage was hilarious and I loved it. I’m nervous to continue with the final book because it seems to have divided reviewers. But as long as my children are OKAY by the end of this series, I’m sure I’ll be happy.

THE WICKED KING BY HOLLY BLACK ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Young Adult • Romance • Fairies

I loved this sequel infinitely more than I thought possible. I’m so happy that Jude was even more deceptive here and the romance just fed my soul. Read my review here on the blog.

THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS BY EMILY SKRUTSKIE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Young Adult • Sapphic Romance • SciFi

This was the perfect ending to Emily Skrutskie’s Pirate duology. More monsters, more romance and more morally grey action. This was so much fun to read, I’m just sad it’s over. Read my review here on the blog.

THE FLATSHARE BY BETH O’LEARY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chick Lit • Romance • British Romcom • Plus Size MC

This romance premise was too good to pass up and it pretty much lived up to all the hype. With different narrative choices, I probably would’ve enjoyed this book a bit more. I loved Tiffy as the goofy main character, who isn’t small or petite, but is a tall and solid woman. Which is rare in romance/chick lit! This was very sweet romance, that manages to tackle obsessive and emotionally abusive ex-boyfriends as well.

THE FINE ART OF LOSING CONTROL BY ASHLEY SHEPHERD ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Young Adult • Romance • Coming of Age

Ashley Shepherd is one of my favourite romance and contemporary writers. I loved her coming of age story that was accompanied with a very sweet friends to lovers romance full of playful bickering. Read my review here on the blog.

THE BRIDGE KINGDOM BY DANIELLE L. JENSEN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Adult • Romance • Fantasy • Enemies to Lovers

I love fantasy’s with deceptive heroines, it’s hard to go wrong with fierce female characters! Read my review here on the blog.

QUEEN SIZED BY MADISON FAYE ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Royal/Bodyguard Romance • Short Story • Plus Size MC

Was this the most innovative romance book I’ve ever read? No. Was it insta-love based on physical attraction alone? Yes. Am I going to hold these against this book? Not at all. Despite these small gripes, this small novella has some of the best fat rep I’ve seen in a romance book in a long time. Although this novella is mostly about the banging and that usually isn’t all I want from a romance. The rating would’ve been higher if it were a standard 300 page romance as well.

BE NOT FARE FROM ME BY MINDY MCGINNIS ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Young Adult • Survival • Contemporary

I don’t often read survival stories, but this one was wild. Quite graphic in places as well and the emotional and physical pain the character went through made me squeamish and gave me anxiety.

🎧 DAISY JONES & THE SIX BY TAYLOR JENKINS REID ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Historical Fiction • Epistolary Format

This book didn’t live up to the hype for me. I’ve rarely enjoyed books told in epistolary or transcript format, but listening to the audiobook definitely alleviated any annoyance I may have otherwise had with the narration style. I did love that this was a full cast of narrators, I’d listen to a ton more audiobooks if they were narrated by Judy Greer.

THE THIRD BEST THING BY MAYA HUGHES ⭐️⭐️⭐️
New Adult • Romance • Contemporary • Plus Size MC

This premise sounded like fun, but to be honest, the plus size rep let me down here. I’m trying not to hold it against the book too much, but yeah as a plus size person at times this book just wasn’t fun to read.

How was your March? Did you read any amazing books that helped keep you sane in isolation? I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these books as well!

  1. I’ve been DYING to start Before the Devil Breaks You – I can’t wait to see how Libba Bray wraps up this phenomenal series 😍I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it, I don’t think (*touch wood*) I’ve seen a single bad review for it at this point! I’ve never heard of losing control, but you can bet your bottom dollar it’s on my TBR now!

Sorry to hear you didn’t like Daisy Jones & the Six – I’ve been meaning to pick it up, but the hype kinda scares me 😅

Hope you’re having a great reading month so far!

    1. Oh it’s soooo good! I think the general consensus with The Diviners is that books 2 and 3 are the best, so I’m sure you won’t be disappointed 😀 I hope you enjoy Daisy Jones more than I did and that your experience isn’t ruined by hype! Hope you’re reading month is great too, thanks Ngoc!

  2. I feel like the entire bookish community has screamed at me about Daisy Jones and the Six. So much so that I’m too scared to picked it up now. I’m like 99.9% sure that it won’t live up to the hype. Your rating only confirms the theory! That being said, a lot of people recommend the audiobook. I think if I’m ever going to pick it up, it’ll be the audiobook. The whole transcript thing’s a little off putting… ❤
